Ruston Ocampo Banal Jr.
Ruston Banal is an interdisciplinary artist who emphasizes design thinking across multiple creative platforms. The primary focus of his works pertains to the creation of images and the documentation of cultural practices prevalent in his province, encompassing culinary and indigenous aspects. He obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art History from the University of the Philippines College of Fine Arts.
Additionally, he completed a design degree at the renowned Goldsmiths in the University of London as a government scholar. Three times, the National Commission for Culture and the Arts has awarded him the Ani ng Dangal Award in recognition of his numerous winning streaks with photographs depicting Pamagdarame (flagellation) and Kuraldal (ritual dance).
